A tanker has crashed into the Bay Bridge in San Francisco, according to NBC Bay Area's Twitter feed.

 

KTVU says that the coast guard is responding.

The San Francisco Chronicle says a fireboat is at the scene, but no oil has been spotted at present.

According to the AP, the Coast Guard is saying there is no sign of a leak.

The crash occured at 11:37 a.m. at the westernmost tower of the bridge, the Chronicle says.

The ship has returned to its anchorage where it is being inspected.
